The below link leads to an article I found today on MSN Money Central. The title to the article, Stop Listening to Suze Orman, explains it all. I have for years been confused about why people listen to this personality on finances. I do not know if the author of this article, James Scurlock, has an issue with Ms. Orman but I thought it was an article worth sharing.

Several years ago I started to notice more and more job postings from business’ have in them that the business will do a credit check along with a background check. Back then when I first started seeing this I thought that passing a credit check for most positions was unnecessary. The only business positions that I think should require a credit check would be positions that have access to money. Even though I have a job I still look at job posting to see if there is something better out there. The other day I looked at three job posting and two of them had a credit check requirement. I do not work in a finance position so I was not looking at any jobs that would have access to any money. As I was looking at these job postings a thought crossed my mine about the credit check requirement. All of these people lately who have lost there jobs, I seem to recall the last unemployment number I saw last week was around 8%, a lot have been out of work for a long time. Some have had to stop paying some of their bills so that they have money for food and to try to keep as current as possible on their loan payments. I think there would have to be a lot of qualified unemployed people for these jobs who will not be able to get them because they have been out of work for months and there credit has taken a hit because they have had to pick and choose what bills to pay. I know someone that lost there job and was not able to find a new job for almost a year. This person took all the part time jobs that he could and ate through his 401k and savings because he did not get a severance package. He lost his house due to being out of work for so long and not able to pay his bills. He told me that before he found the job that he has now he was down to less than $100. I know businesses can set hiring requirements based on what they want but in this time that we live in now un-necessary job requirements should be removed. I can’t be the only one that feels that way.
